A new year and a new name for this magnificent route. Debate has
surrounded the name Pendle Pedal for the last few years with the
suggestion that it doesn’t do justice to the physical challenge of the
ride. "Pedal" just makes it sounds like a leisurely Sunday afternoon
ride, which it most certainly isn’t. Most who have participated in the
past will certainly agree that the Bowland countryside is certainly not
easy to tame.
The ride starts and finishes at the original route base, Rolls Royce
Leisure Club in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.
Plenty of hills and thrills. You’ll get plenty of practice changing gears and sweeping down rolling hills on this large anti-clockwise sweep around the remote north-east Lancashire countryside.
It includes Barley
Fell, Waddington Fell, Bowland Knotts, the Lune Valley, Trough of
Bowland, Chipping, Longridge Fell and Nick O’ Pendle.
